Lugari Diploma Teachers Training College (LDTTC)

Lugari Diploma Teachers Training College is a public teacher training institution located in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County, Kenya. Situated approximately 35 kilometres from Eldoret town on the Eldoret-Webuye road, the college is the second-highest public government training institution in western Kenya.

The college offers the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education (DSTE) across science, language, and humanities subjects, including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, Kiswahili, Geography, History, and Agriculture, with professional learning areas and physical education as compulsory components.

Accredited by the Ministry of Education and KNEC, the institution serves as the primary diploma teacher training college for the western region, supporting the growing demand for qualified secondary school teachers in Kakamega, Vihiga, and neighbouring counties.

Lugari Diploma TTC conducts educational research on science and humanities pedagogy, CBC curriculum implementation, learner-centred instruction, and teacher professional growth in Kakamega and the wider Western region.

The college requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ (Plus) for the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, with C+ in the two chosen teaching subjects. Competitive subject combinations include Mathematics and Biology, English and Geography, and History and Christian Religious Education. The college accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students. Bridging courses are available for applicants who do not meet direct entry requirements.
