What it actually does.
A target the catalogue can defend
You pick a destination, or accept a suggestion. Either way it is a real career record with a real exposure rating, salary band and set of entry routes, so the plan aims at something you can go and read.
The gap, named precisely
Your profile against the target's entry requirements, task by task. Not a score out of a hundred, but a list of what is missing and roughly how long each piece takes.
Ordered, not alphabetised
Prerequisites first, long lead items started early, and the things that only matter at application time scheduled last. Tracks overlap where they genuinely can.
Routes priced in Kenyan terms
Where a step needs a course or a certification, it is drawn from the catalogue with its actual fee, duration and intake months, so the plan accounts for what it costs and when you can start.
It moves when the ratings move
Exposure ratings are maintained. When one on your path changes materially, the roadmap flags it and proposes the amendment rather than quietly going stale.

What it does not do.
A roadmap is a scheduling instrument. It is worth being clear about where its authority stops.

- 01It does not know your calendar. Hours per week are the one input it cannot check, so an optimistic answer there produces an optimistic plan.
- 02It does not guarantee the target. Entry requirements are what an institution publishes; admission, funding and hiring are decisions other people make.
- 03It cannot price everything. Where the catalogue has no fee for a step, the plan says so rather than estimating one.
- 04It aims at a rating that is itself derived. If the exposure rating on your target moves, the plan moves with it, which is the point, but it means the destination is a considered judgement rather than a fixed fact.
- 05It is a plan, not a commitment device. Nothing here follows up, reminds you, or notices that you stopped.
