Research and innovation
KEWI conducts applied hydrologic research, water resources management studies, and wastewater treatment technology development. Working in synergy with the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, regional Water Works Development Agencies, and WASREB, the institute focuses on decentralized wastewater treatment, solar-powered smart borehole automation, groundwater aquifer mapping, and non-revenue water (NRW) reduction technologies for Kenyan urban and rural utilities.
