Kabarak University (KabU)

Founded on 16th October 2000 by Kenya's second President, H.E. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, who served as founding Chancellor until his death in February 2020, Kabarak University is a private Christian institution affiliated with the African Inland Church. Located 20 kilometres from Nakuru town along the Nakuru-Bahati Road, the university serves over 8,000 students across its Main and Nakuru City campuses.

The university operates eight schools including Business and Economics, Education Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Medicine and Health Sciences, Music and Media, Science Engineering and Technology, Theology, and Nursing. Its Christian foundation integrates faith and learning across all programmes.

Accredited by CUE, the Council of Legal Education (CLE), and the Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK), the institution ranks 23rd nationally. It is the only Kenyan university founded by a former President, combining academic excellence with a strong Christian value system.

Kabarak university publishes seven academic journals including the kabarak journal of research and innovation (kjri), kabarak law review, and journals in medicine, science, and education, reflecting its growing multidisciplinary research culture. the school of medicine and health sciences conducts research on tropical diseases and public health challenges affecting the rift valley region, while the school of law advances legal scholarship on constitutionalism, governance, and human rights in kenya. the school of business and economics researches entrepreneurship, microfinance, and value chain development relevant to nakuru county's economy. partnership with indiana wesleyan university (usa) supports faculty exchange and collaborative research in education and social sciences, while collaboration with nazarene theological college (uk) strengthens theological and humanities research. the university's commitment to integrating biblical christian values with academic research produces scholarship that addresses both technical challenges and ethical dimensions of kenya's development, particularly in healthcare, legal reform, and business ethics.

A C+ mean grade is the minimum for a Bachelor's degree; competitive programmes (medicine, engineering, law, nursing, architecture) require higher grades and specific KCSE subject clusters. Master's programmes require a relevant Bachelor's degree; PhD programmes a relevant Master's degree.
