Kagumo Teachers Training College (KTTC)

Kagumo Teachers Training College, established in 1944 as a primary teachers training college, is one of Kenya's oldest teacher training institutions. Located in Nyeri County, Kenya, the college transitioned to diploma-level secondary teacher education and has produced thousands of teachers for the nation's secondary schools.

The college offers the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education across subjects including Agriculture, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, English, Kiswahili, French, German, Arabic, Computer Science, and Mechatronics Technology, with Physical Education as compulsory for all students.

Accredited by the Ministry of Education and KNEC, the institution is one of the country's premier public diploma teacher training colleges, serving as the primary centre for secondary school teacher preparation in the central region.

Kagumo TTC conducts applied pedagogical research, Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) instructional design, science and mathematics teaching methodologies (SMASE), and inclusive education strategies for secondary school teacher education in Kenya.

The college requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ (Plus) for the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education programme. Applicants must have C+ in their two teaching subjects. Competitive subject combinations include Mathematics and Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and English and Kiswahili. The college accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students. Physical Education is compulsory for all students.
