The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education German is a four-year programme that combines the academic study of the German language with professional teacher training. Students develop proficiency in German language, literature, linguistics and intercultural communication while also studying educational theory, pedagogy and teaching methodology. The programme prepares graduates to teach German in secondary schools and other educational institutions in Kenya.

Students develop competencies in German language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking and listening), German literature, linguistics, translation and intercultural communication. They also acquire teaching skills including lesson planning, classroom management, educational psychology and assessment methods. The programme emphasises both subject matter expertise and pedagogical competence, ensuring graduates can effectively teach German as a foreign language.

In Kenya, German is taught as a foreign language in selected secondary schools and is increasingly relevant in tourism, international business and diplomatic relations between Kenya and German-speaking countries. Germany is one of Kenya's key development partners, and organisations such as the Goethe-Institut Nairobi actively promote German language education.
