Moi University (MU)

Founded in 1984 by an Act of Parliament as Kenya's second public university, Moi University is located in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. Named after President Daniel arap Moi, the university serves over 52,000 students across its Main Campus in Kesses and Town Campus, with additional campuses in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kitale.

The university operates 13 schools including Medicine, Law, Aerospace Sciences, Engineering, Education, Business and Economics, and Information Sciences. The College of Health Sciences operates from the Medical Complex near Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, while the School of Aerospace Sciences is based at Rivatex.

Accredited by CUE, the university ranks 3rd nationally. Its partnership with Indiana University through the AMPATH programme has made it a global leader in medical education and HIV/AIDS research in East Africa.

Moi university maintains strong research output in health sciences, agriculture, and environmental studies, anchored by its institute of biotechnology research and the college of health sciences complex in eldoret. the university's schools of medicine, dentistry, and public health collaborate on epidemiological research and community health interventions that directly impact rural populations in the north rift and western kenya. strategic partnerships with indiana university (usa), the university of nottingham (uk), and linkoping university (sweden) support faculty exchange and joint research in tropical medicine, agricultural extension, and engineering. the sasakawa africa fund for extension education partnership enhances food security research, while the african virtual university (avu) collaboration expands open and distance learning. moi university's research increasingly informs national health policy and agricultural transformation, particularly in uasin gishu and surrounding counties.

A C+ mean grade is the minimum for a Bachelor's degree; competitive programmes (medicine, engineering, law, nursing, architecture) require higher grades and specific KCSE subject clusters. Master's programmes require a relevant Bachelor's degree; PhD programmes a relevant Master's degree.
