Mama Ngina University College (MNGUC)

Gazetted through Legal Notice No. 193 of 17th September 2021 as a constituent college of Kenyatta University, Mama Ngina University College (MNUC) was initially under Moi University's mentorship before being transferred to Kenyatta University in October 2016. Located along Kenyatta Road in Mutomo, Gatundu South, Kiambu County — approximately 43 kilometres north of Nairobi — the college serves over 3,000 students.

The college operates three schools: Education, Business, and Pure and Applied Sciences. Kenyatta University acquired 10.3 acres of land for the campus, with the first phase of construction completed in July 2021 and the first cohort of students reporting in October 2021.

Accredited by CUE and the IUCEA, MNUC ranks 67th nationally. Named after Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Kenya's First Lady, the college's motto 'Shaping the Future' reflects its commitment to developing a skilled labour force for Kenya's Vision 2030.

Research at mnuc focuses on education, social sciences, and agricultural development, with growing output in peer reviewed journals and community based projects that address the development needs of gatundu south and the broader kiambu county. the school of education conducts research on pedagogical approaches, teaching quality, and educational access in peri urban and rural contexts, while the school of business investigates entrepreneurship, sme development, and value chain management relevant to kiambu's mixed economy. the school of pure and applied sciences advances research in agricultural science, environmental studies, and appropriate technologies. partnership with the kenya national bureau of statistics (knbs) supports joint research, data sharing, and mentorship. collaboration with kenya commercial bank (kcb) supports research on internship, employability, and financial literacy. the tech innovators network (think) partnership supports artificial intelligence hackathons and innovation projects. kenyatta university mentorship provides research supervision and quality assurance. research output increasingly informs educational practice, enterprise development, and community service across gatundu south and the broader kiambu region.

A C+ mean grade is the minimum for a Bachelor's degree; competitive programmes (medicine, engineering, law, nursing, architecture) require higher grades and specific KCSE subject clusters. Master's programmes require a relevant Bachelor's degree; PhD programmes a relevant Master's degree.
