Research

Alupe university focuses on applied research in agriculture, health sciences, and education, with growing output in community based projects and regional development studies. the university's proximity to kemri's alupe research centre creates unique opportunities for collaborative research in tropical diseases, malaria, and public health challenges affecting the lake victoria basin and kenya uganda border communities. the school of agriculture and veterinary sciences conducts research on crop improvement and livestock health suited to the region's mixed farming systems, while the school of health sciences investigates community health challenges in partnership with the neighbouring alupe sub county hospital. collaboration with kalro supports agricultural research on food crops and soil management. the iucea affiliation ensures regional standards compliance. research output increasingly informs county level health and agricultural policy in busia, with particular strengths in border region health challenges, educational access, and cross border trade dynamics.
