Africa International University (AIU)

Established in 1983 as the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) and chartered in 2011 as Africa International University (AIU), the university is located in Karen, Nairobi. AIU serves over 2,500 students from across Africa and beyond.

The university operates five schools including NEGST, Business and Economics, Education Arts and Social Sciences, Computing and Emerging Technologies, and the Institute of Gender Studies. Its evangelical Christian foundation integrates faith and scholarship across all programmes.

Accredited by CUE and the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), AIU ranks 48th nationally. Its pan-African student body and evangelical heritage make it a key institution for theological education and Christian leadership formation across the African continent.

Research at aiu focuses on theology, christian education, and community development, with publications in local and international journals that address african contextual challenges from an evangelical perspective. the negst school advances research on evangelical theology, african christianity, biblical studies, and the legacy of byang kato's critique of syncretism, producing scholarship that informs evangelical church engagement with african culture. the institute for the study of african realities (isar) conducts research on social, political, and economic realities in africa, bridging theological scholarship with public policy. the school of business and economics investigates ethical entrepreneurship and faith based business models, while the school of education contributes pedagogical research. partnerships with fuller theological seminary and wheaton college (usa) support faculty exchange and collaborative research in theology and social sciences. the africa theological network connects aiu to evangelical scholarship across the continent. research output increasingly informs church policy, theological education, and evangelical engagement with african societal challenges.

A C+ mean grade is the minimum for a Bachelor's degree; competitive programmes (medicine, engineering, law, nursing, architecture) require higher grades and specific KCSE subject clusters. Master's programmes require a relevant Bachelor's degree; PhD programmes a relevant Master's degree.
