Nyeri National Polytechnic (NNP)

Nyeri National Polytechnic is a public TVET institution in Nyeri County, Kenya. Established in 1978, the polytechnic serves over 4,500 students across twelve departments, making it one of Kenya's largest national polytechnics by department count.

The institution offers diploma and certificate courses in Computing and Informatics, Health Sciences, Tourism, Building and Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Applied Sciences, Business Studies, Hospitality, Agriculture, Fashion and Beauty, Electrical and Electronics, and Liberal Studies. Facilities include engineering workshops, a library, computer labs, and a sports ground.

Accredited by TVETA and KNQA, the polytechnic is the only national polytechnic in The institution County, serving as the primary technical training centre for Kenya's central region and the broader Mt Kenya highlands.

Nyeri National Polytechnic operates a vibrant Directorate of Research, Development, Innovation and Partnerships (RDI) dedicated to applied engineering, TVET innovation, and regional economic empowerment. The Polytechnic participates actively in the annual Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) national research conferences and the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) innovation expos. Key research and innovation clusters include mechanical fabrication and automotive diagnostic engineering, electrical power installations and renewable solar solutions, civil building construction technologies, agricultural machinery adaptation, and digital ICT solutions tailored to Nyeri County and national industrial demands. Through its industry incubation hub and technical trade workshops, the polytechnic transforms student and faculty prototypes into commercially viable tools for local enterprises and cooperative societies.
