Artisan in Front Office Operations

The Artisan in Front Office Operations is a TVET-CDACC Level 4 competency-based programme that trains students in fundamental front office and reception support skills for the hospitality and business sectors. The course is examined by TVET-CDACC and offered across accredited TVET institutions in Kenya. Students learn basic reception, telephone handling, guest service, booking assistance, and front office hygiene.

The curriculum covers basic units including communication skills, numeracy skills, digital literacy, entrepreneurial skills, employability skills, environmental literacy, and occupational safety and health practices. Core units focus on basic reception, telephone handling, guest service, booking assistance, front office cleaning, and industrial attachment in a front office or reception environment.

Kenya's hospitality and business sectors create demand for entry-level front office support personnel. Hotels, lodges, corporate offices, hospitals, and educational institutions require trained reception assistants for visitor handling, telephone operations, and front office support services.

Training combines classroom theory with practical sessions in simulated front office environments. Students practice reception duties, telephone handling, guest service, booking assistance, and front office hygiene under supervised conditions. The programme includes industrial attachment in hotel receptions, corporate offices, or front office environments where students apply their skills in real reception settings.

Graduates work as reception assistants, front office helpers, telephone operators, and guest service assistants in hotels, lodges, corporate offices, hospitals, and educational institutions. The qualification provides a foundation for progression to Front Office Operations Level 5 and Level 6 for specialised front office management and hospitality roles.

This programme is suitable for KCSE certificate holders with a mean grade of E or KCPE certificate who are interested in customer service and reception work and seeking entry-level positions in front office and reception environments.
