About
Founded in 1994, Karen Technical Training Institute for the Deaf (KTTID) was the first TVET institution in Kenya exclusively for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Its mission is to provide inclusive, quality technical training that empowers deaf youth with vocational competence and entrepreneurship skills. The institute offers National Certificate and Diploma programmes in ICT, Fashion Design, Catering, Building Technology, Electrical Installation, and Sign Language Instruction. All instruction is delivered in Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) with visual media, and students also learn KSL as a subject to enhance communication.
KTTID is accredited by TVETA and recognized by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority.
Accredited by TVETA and KNEC, the institution serves as a key technical training centre for the region,.
