Friends College Kaimosi (FCK)

Friends College Kaimosi is a public TVET institution in Vihiga County, Kenya. Established in 1971 by the East African Yearly Meeting of Friends Church (Quakers), the college has a long history of providing technical education to the western region. It serves over 1,500 students across multiple departments.

The college offers diploma and certificate courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering, Business Studies, Information Communication Technology, and Agriculture. Facilities include engineering workshops, computer labs, a library, and sports facilities.

Accredited by TVETA and KNEC, the institution is one of the country's oldest community-founded technical colleges, serving as a key training centre for the western region.

Friends College Kaimosi conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Vihiga County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.

The college requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) for diploma programmes, D (Plain) for certificates, and D- or below for artisan courses. Competitive programmes include Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Diploma in Business Management, and Diploma in ICT. The college accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students. Government capitation and HELB loans are available for eligible students.
