Master of Medicine in Anatomic Pathology

The Master of Medicine in Anatomic Pathology is a postgraduate medical specialty programme that trains medical doctors to become specialist anatomic pathologists. A day as a student

A typical day during the MMed Anatomic Pathology residency begins with morning sign-out sessions where residents present cases to consultants, discussing histopathology findings and arriving at diagnoses. Residents spend significant time at the microscope examining tissue specimens, learning to identify disease patterns, tumour types, and pathological changes. Gross pathology sessions involve examining surgical specimens, selecting representative sections for processing, and documenting findings. Cytopathology rotations involve examining fine needle aspirates and cervical smears. Forensic pathology rotations include performing medico-legal autopsies, documenting findings, and determining cause of death. Academic sessions include lectures on pathology principles, journal clubs discussing recent research, and case conferences with clinical teams.
