Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Chain Management

The Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Chain Management is a four-year programme that prepares students for strategic procurement, supply chain operations and logistics management. Students study procurement, supply chain strategy, logistics, inventory management, operations, contract management and supplier relations. The programme combines procurement skills with end-to-end supply chain management for organisational competitiveness.

Students develop competencies in procurement planning, sourcing, supplier management, logistics, demand forecasting, inventory control, supply chain analytics and risk management. They learn to design and manage supply chains, negotiate contracts, coordinate logistics and ensure efficient flow of goods and services. The programme covers procurement, supply chain management, logistics, operations and strategy.

In Kenya, procurement and supply chain management is critical for manufacturing, retail, government, humanitarian organisations and service industries. Egerton University, Chuka University, Mount Kenya University and other institutions offer this programme. Graduates find roles in procurement departments, supply chain consultancies, logistics companies, government agencies and multinational organisations.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, case studies, simulations, industrial attachment and research projects. Students analyse supply chain cases, develop procurement strategies, use supply chain software and undertake industrial attachment. The programme includes a final-year research project.

Graduates pursue careers as procurement and supply chain managers, logistics managers, supply chain analysts, procurement officers and operations managers. Some work in manufacturing and retail. Others join logistics firms, government, NGOs or international organisations.

This programme is ideal for individuals with strategic thinking, analytical skills and interest in managing supply chains and procurement.
