Bachelor of Church Management and Leadership

The Bachelor of Church Management and Leadership is a four-year programme that combines theological foundations with business management and leadership skills for church and ministry contexts. Students study church administration, financial management, leadership theory, pastoral care, church governance and project management, developing competencies for effective church leadership. The programme prepares graduates for management and leadership roles in churches and faith-based organisations.

Students develop competencies in church administration, financial management, leadership, strategic planning, project management, pastoral care, church governance and team building. They learn to manage church operations, oversee finances, lead ministries, develop strategic plans, manage church projects and provide pastoral leadership. The programme covers both theological foundations and practical management skills for church contexts.

In Kenya, churches are significant institutions requiring professional management and leadership. Large congregations, mega-churches and denominational structures need trained leaders who can manage operations, finances, staff and programmes. Faith-based NGOs, theological institutions and Christian schools also require management professionals. The growing professionalisation of church management creates demand for graduates with both theological and business management skills.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, leadership workshops, case studies, ministry practicum, research projects and industrial attachment. Students analyse church management cases, develop strategic plans, participate in leadership exercises and undertake internships in churches or faith-based organisations. The programme includes a final-year research project.

Graduates pursue careers as church administrators, senior pastors, executive pastors, church programme managers, faith-based NGO managers and Christian organisational leaders.
