Bachelor of Christian Education

The Bachelor of Christian Education is a four-year programme that prepares students for educational ministry and Christian education leadership roles. Students study Christian theology, educational psychology, curriculum development, teaching methods, youth ministry and church administration, developing competencies for faith-based education. The programme combines theological foundations with educational theory and practice.

Students develop competencies in Christian education, teaching methodology, curriculum design, youth ministry, church administration, biblical studies and educational psychology. They learn to design Christian education programmes, teach religious studies, lead youth ministries, develop church educational resources and manage faith-based educational initiatives. The programme covers both theological content and pedagogical skills.

In Kenya, Christian education plays a significant role in churches, schools, theological institutions and faith-based organisations. Churches across denominations require trained Christian educators for Sunday schools, youth ministries and adult education programmes. Christian schools and theological colleges need qualified teachers. Faith-based NGOs engaged in education and community development also create opportunities. Graduates find roles in churches, Christian schools, theological institutions and faith-based organisations.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, teaching practice, ministry workshops, case studies, research projects and industrial attachment. Students develop lesson plans, teach practice sessions, lead ministry activities and undertake internships in churches or Christian institutions. The programme includes a final-year research project.

Graduates pursue careers as Christian educators, youth pastors, Sunday school coordinators, church education directors, religious studies teachers and faith-based programme coordinators. Some work in churches or Christian schools. Others join theological institutions, faith-based NGOs or pursue postgraduate study in theology or education.
