The trade offs

In its favour

  • Programme offers multiple entry pathways including diploma and professional certification holders.
  • University of Eldoret offers clear progression from diploma to degree to postgraduate study.
  • Versatile degree with career opportunities across all sectors of the economy.
  • Programme available at both Main Campus and Town Campus for flexibility.

Against it

  • Programme is only offered at one university under this specific slug, limiting choice.
  • Large number of BBM graduates nationally creates competition for entry-level positions.
  • Curriculum overlaps significantly with BBA and BCom, making differentiation difficult.
  • The 'Degree' suffix in the programme name may cause confusion with the standard BBM slug.

Common misconceptions

  • This is a different qualification from the Bachelor of Business Management.

It is the same BBM programme; the 'Degree' suffix is simply a naming variation in the CUE listing for University of Eldoret.

  • A business management degree guarantees a managerial position after graduation.

Most graduates start in entry-level roles and work their way up through experience and performance.

  • Business management is only for those who want to work in corporate offices.

Graduates work across all sectors including manufacturing, retail, NGOs, government, and entrepreneurship.

  • University of Eldoret's BBM is less competitive than programmes at larger universities.

The programme meets the same CUE accreditation standards as BBM programmes at any other university.
