Kenyan market notes

NITA has a formal Biogas System Installer II curriculum (KNQF Level 3). KIPPRA reports biogas installations increased from 2,000 (2007) to 20,000 (2022), but 70% of plants are non-functional — massive maintenance demand. Biogas value chain could create ~7 million rural jobs. ABPL trains biodigester masons with GIZ support across Western, Nyanza, Coastal, Eastern regions. 41 biodigester companies operate in Kenya. Key barrier: need for skilled labour for installation, operation and maintenance. Government recommended building database of trained/certified masons in each county. Kenpro offers biogas technician training (3-4 days short, 2-3 months long, plus 1-3 month practical attachment).
