University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB)

Established in 1980 and chartered in 1991, the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) is a private Seventh-day Adventist university located in Baraton, Nandi County. The university serves over 3,000 students across its Main Campus.

The university operates five schools including Business, Education Humanities and Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Nursing, and Science and Technology. Its Adventist heritage emphasises holistic education integrating faith, health, and learning.

Accredited by CUE and the Seventh-day Adventist Church General Conference Education Council, UEAB ranks 43rd nationally. Its rural campus in Nandi County provides a serene environment for study, and its Adventist foundation makes it a key institution for Christian education in Kenya's North Rift region.

Ueab's research focuses on health sciences, agriculture, theology, and community development, with publications in peer reviewed journals and collaborative projects that reflect the seventh day adventist tradition's emphasis on holistic health and education. the school of health sciences and school of nursing conduct research on public health, community health nursing, and healthcare delivery in rural settings, leveraging the campus medical centre for practical research. the school of science and technology investigates agricultural science, environmental studies, and appropriate technologies, with the research farm supporting crop trials and sustainable agriculture research. partnership with andrews university and loma linda university (usa) — both seventh day adventist institutions — supports faculty exchange, collaborative research, and joint degree programmes. the adventist general conference education council ensures adherence to global adventist academic standards. ueab has launched an iso 9001:2015 quality management system, demonstrating commitment to institutional research quality. research output increasingly informs health policy, agricultural extension, and adventist educational standards across eastern africa.

A C+ mean grade is the minimum for a Bachelor's degree; competitive programmes (medicine, engineering, law, nursing, architecture) require higher grades and specific KCSE subject clusters. Master's programmes require a relevant Bachelor's degree; PhD programmes a relevant Master's degree.
