Outspan Global University (OGU)

Built on over two decades of healthcare delivery through Outspan Medical College and its associated teaching hospital, Outspan Global University (OGU) is a private university in Nyeri County that received its Letter of Interim Authority from CUE. The university's primary clinical training facility is the Outspan Teaching and Referral Hospital (OTRH), a Level 5 hospital with branches in Nyeri, Embu, and Nanyuki.

The university operates three schools — Business, Education, and Arts and Social Sciences — with initial degree programmes including Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine and Community Health, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. The Outspan Serenity Center serves as a practical training site for psychology students.

Accredited by CUE, OGU is an emerging centre of excellence in healthcare education. Its hospital-based training model ensures students receive real-world clinical experience, positioning the university as a key provider of healthcare professionals for Kenya's central region.

Ogu's research adopts a problem based approach focused on addressing community and medical issues with practical, solution driven outcomes, leveraging its multi site hospital infrastructure across nyeri, embu, and nanyuki for clinical research. the university's research priorities include one health, digital health (ai and medtech), biomedical science, universal health coverage (uhc), maternal newborn and child health (mnch), and non communicutable disease (ncd) prevention. the ogu research committee coordinates research submissions and proposals, ensuring that work contributes to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and creating real world impact. the outspan serenity center supports behavioural health research, particularly in substance abuse treatment and community mental health. the university offers an unmatched, highly scalable research platform for institutional partners, biopharma sponsors, and clinical research organizations (cros), with multi center study protocols executed through a single consolidated regulatory framework spanning three healthcare hubs. research output increasingly informs clinical practice, community health interventions, and healthcare policy across the central kenya region.
