Kenya Highlands Evangelical University (KHU)

Founded in 1932 as Kenya Highlands Bible Institute and chartered in 2011, Kenya Highlands Evangelical University (KHEU) is a private Christian university located in Kericho, Kericho County. The university serves over 3,000 students across its Main Campus.

The university operates four schools including Theology, Business, Education, and Arts and Social Sciences. Its Africa Gospel Church heritage integrates Christian faith with academic training across all programmes.

Accredited by CUE and the Africa Gospel Church Education Council, KHEU ranks 60th nationally. Its nearly century-long history of theological education makes it one of Kenya's oldest the institution training institutions, serving the Africa Gospel Church and the broader it community across Kenya.

Research at Kenya Highlands University focuses on theological studies, education, and community development, with outputs published in local and international journals that reflect the institution's World Gospel Mission heritage and Africa Gospel Church identity. The School of Theology advances research on Wesleyan holiness theology, African Christianity, biblical studies, and the history of the Africa Gospel Church in Kenya, producing scholarship that informs the AGC's engagement with African culture and society. The School of Education contributes pedagogical research on teaching quality and values-based education in Christian schools, while the School of Business investigates ethical entrepreneurship and faith-based enterprise models. The School of Arts and Social Sciences conducts research on social transformation and community development in the South Rift region. Partnership with the Africa Gospel Church and Global Missions Church (Canada) supports collaborative research, while the Wesleyan Church World Headquarters connection links KHU to global Wesleyan scholarship. Research output increasingly informs church policy, theological education, and community development across Kericho and the wider South Rift.

A C+ mean grade is the minimum for a Bachelor's degree; competitive programmes (medicine, engineering, law, nursing, architecture) require higher grades and specific KCSE subject clusters. Master's programmes require a relevant Bachelor's degree; PhD programmes a relevant Master's degree.
