Established in 2015 as Kaimosi Friends University College (KAFUCO), a constituent college of the University of Nairobi, and chartered in 2022, Kaimosi Friends University is located in Kaimosi, Vihiga County. The university serves over 2,500 students across its Main Campus.

The university operates five schools including Education and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, Business and Economics, Health Sciences, and Agriculture. Its Quaker heritage traces to the Friends United Meeting (FUM) mission at the institution, which established the first educational institutions in the area.

Accredited by CUE and the FUM Education Council, the institution ranks 51st nationally. It is the only public university headquartered in Vihiga County, serving as the primary higher education institution for the communities of Kenya's western Vihiga region.
