About
Established in 1975 under the aegis of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is a premier intergovernmental institution based in Nairobi, Kenya. Its mission is to promote sustainable development through geospatial information and remote sensing technologies across Africa.
RCMRD offers a range of TVET and professional development programmes in surveying, mapping, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and natural resource management. These include diploma courses, short-term professional courses, and specialized training for government and private sector practitioners. The institution is fully accredited by TVETA and the Kenya National Qualifications Authority.
The Centre plays a pivotal role in supporting Kenya's Vision 2030 and the African Union's Agenda 2063 by building capacity in spatial data infrastructure.
