Omuga Technical and Vocational College (OTVC)

Omuga Technical and Vocational College, established in 2010, is a public TVET institution located in Homa Bay County, Kenya. It was founded to address the skills gap in the region and provide quality technical education to youth.

The college offers certificate, diploma, and higher diploma programs in engineering, information technology, business studies, and applied sciences. Its mission is to produce competent, innovative, and ethical graduates who can contribute to Kenya's industrial and economic development.

The college plays a significant role in Kenya's TVET system by offering hands-on training and fostering entrepreneurship among students.

Omuga Technical and Vocational College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Homa Bay County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
