Nyandarua National Polytechnic (NNP)

Nyandarua National Polytechnic is a public TVET institution in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, Kenya. Established in 1979, the polytechnic serves over 3,500 students across ten departments, making it one of Kenya's most comprehensive national polytechnics.

The institution offers diploma and certificate courses in Agriculture and Environmental Studies, Applied Sciences, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Fashion Design and Cosmetology, Building and Civil Engineering, Hospitality and Tourism, Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Business Studies and Entrepreneurship, and Computing and Informatics. Facilities include engineering workshops, a library, computer labs, a sports ground, and a research farm.

Accredited by TVETA and KNQA, the polytechnic is the only national polytechnic in The institution County, serving as the primary technical training centre for Kenya's central highlands agricultural belt.

Nyandarua National Polytechnic operates a vibrant Directorate of Research, Development, Innovation and Partnerships (RDI) dedicated to applied engineering, TVET innovation, and regional economic empowerment. The Polytechnic participates actively in the annual Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) national research conferences and the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) innovation expos. Key research and innovation clusters include mechanical fabrication and automotive diagnostic engineering, electrical power installations and renewable solar solutions, civil building construction technologies, agricultural machinery adaptation, and digital ICT solutions tailored to Nyandarua County and national industrial demands. Through its industry incubation hub and technical trade workshops, the polytechnic transforms student and faculty prototypes into commercially viable tools for local enterprises and cooperative societies.
