Merti Technical and Vocational College (MTV10)

Merti Technical and Vocational College (MTVC) is a public TVET institution located in Merti, Isiolo County, Kenya. Established in 2015 under the Kenya Vision 2030 initiative, the college was created to address the skills gap in the arid and semi-arid regions by providing accessible technical and vocational education. Its mission is to produce competent, innovative, and ethical graduates who can drive socio-economic development in the region and beyond.

MTVC offers a range of diploma and certificate programs in engineering, ICT, business studies, hospitality, and agriculture, with a focus on practical skills and industry attachment.

Accredited by TVETA and KNEC, the institution serves as a key technical training centre for the region, supporting the local economy with skilled graduates.

Merti Technical and Vocational College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Isiolo County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
