Matili Technical Training Institute (MT11)

Matili Technical Training Institute, established in 1949 as a farm school in Kimilili, Bungoma County, has evolved into one of Kenya's premier public TVET institutions. Its mission is to provide accessible, quality technical and vocational education and training that equips learners with practical skills for self-reliance and employment.

The institute offers a wide range of diploma and certificate programs in agriculture, engineering, information communication technology, business studies, and applied sciences.

The institute has continuously modernized its facilities and curricula to align with industry demands and technological advancements, maintaining strong partnerships with local industries and international development agencies

Matili Technical Training Institute conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Bungoma County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
