Kieni Technical and Vocational College (KTC)

Kieni Technical and Vocational College (KTVC) was established in 2013 in Nyeri County to address the growing demand for skilled labour in Kenya's agricultural and industrial sectors. The college is committed to providing competency-based education and training (CBET) that aligns with Kenya's Vision 2030 and the TVET reform agenda.

KTVC offers a range of programmes including Certificate and Diploma courses in Agriculture, Information Communication Technology, Electrical Engineering, Building Technology, Business Management, and Hospitality. The institution emphasizes practical skills, entrepreneurship, and innovation, preparing graduates for both formal employment and self-employment.

As a public TVET institution, it plays a critical role in bridging the skills gap in the Kenyan economy, particularly in the Central region.

Kieni Technical and Vocational College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Nyeri County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
