Katine Technical Training Institute (KT3)

Katine Technical Training Institute, located in Siaya County, was established in 2012 to provide accessible technical and vocational education to the local community and beyond. The institute's mission is to equip learners with practical skills and knowledge for self-reliance and employment in line with Kenya's Vision 2030 and the Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum.

It offers diploma and certificate programmes in engineering, ICT, business studies, agriculture, and applied sciences, among others. The institution plays a vital role in reducing youth unemployment in the Lake Region economic bloc by producing competent graduates.

In 2026, The institution TTI continues to expand its infrastructure and partnerships to meet evolving industry demands.

Katine Technical Training Institute conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Machakos County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
