Chuka Technical and Vocational College (CTVC)

Chuka Technical and Vocational College (CTVC), located in Tharaka Nithi County, was established in 2015 to provide accessible, quality technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to Kenyan youth. The college was founded under the government's initiative to expand TVET opportunities in rural areas and bridge skills gaps in agriculture, construction, and ICT. Its mission is to equip learners with practical competencies for self-employment and the formal job market, aligning with Kenya's Vision 2030 development agenda.

CTVC offers a wide range of diploma, certificate, and craft courses in engineering, information technology, business, applied sciences, and hospitality.

Accredited by TVETA and KNEC, the institution serves as a key technical training centre for the region, supporting the local economy with.

Chuka Technical and Vocational College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Tharaka-Nithi County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
