Bukura Agricultural College (BAC)

Bukura Agricultural College is a public TVET institution located in Kakamega County, Kenya. It was established in 1968 with the mission to provide quality training in agriculture and related fields to meet the country’s growing demand for skilled agricultural professionals.

The college offers a range of programmes including certificates, diplomas, and higher diplomas in agriculture, agricultural engineering, food science, and environmental management. Its curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills through hands-on training at its expansive demonstration farms and modern workshops.

The college plays a significant role in Kenya’s agricultural sector by producing competent graduates who contribute to food security, agribusiness, and sustainable farming practices. As of 2026, it continues to expand its programmes and infrastructure to align with Kenya’s Vision 2030 goals.

Bukura Agricultural College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Kakamega County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
