Borabu Technical and Vocational College (BTV2)

Borabu Technical and Vocational College, located in Nyamira County, was established in 2012 to provide accessible technical and vocational education and training to the local community and beyond in Kenya. The college was founded under the vision of empowering youth with practical skills for self-reliance and economic development. Over the years, it has grown from a small institution offering a handful of courses to a comprehensive TVET center with a diverse range of programs.

Accredited by TVETA and KNEC, the institution serves as a key technical training centre for the region, supporting the local economy with skilled graduates.

Borabu Technical and Vocational College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Nyamira County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
