Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture for Rural Development

The Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture for Rural Development is a TVET CDACC Level 6 qualification that equips learners with knowledge and skills in sustainable farming practices, crop and livestock enterprise management, rural community development, and natural resource management.

The curriculum covers foundations of sustainable agriculture, crop enterprise management, livestock enterprise management, agricultural engineering, applied science, ICT and communication skills, community health and rural sociology, development economics and agricultural marketing, and management of natural resources and community development.

The programme is accredited by TVET CDACC under the Sustainable Agriculture for Rural Development Level 6 qualification (code 08886SARMA) and examined by KNEC in some institutions.

Training combines classroom theory with extensive field practicals on training farms, demonstration plots, and community outreach projects. Trainees work with agricultural tools, irrigation systems, soil testing kits, crop production equipment, and livestock handling facilities.

Graduates find employment in county agricultural departments, agricultural NGOs, community development organisations, farm management companies, agribusiness firms, and agricultural research institutions. Industrial attachment places students on agricultural farms, with NGOs, or in county agricultural offices.
