Bachelor of Environmental Chemistry
The Bachelor of Environmental Chemistry is a four-year programme that prepares students for environmental analysis, pollution monitoring and chemical environmental management. Students study environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, pollution science, environmental toxicology and environmental monitoring. The programme focuses on chemical processes in the environment and their management.
Students develop competencies in environmental chemical analysis, pollution monitoring, water and soil chemistry, atmospheric chemistry, environmental toxicology and laboratory techniques. They learn to analyse environmental samples, monitor pollution, assess chemical risks and develop remediation strategies. The programme covers chemistry, environmental science, analytical methods and environmental law.
In Kenya, environmental chemistry is critical for pollution control, water quality monitoring and industrial compliance. NEMA and water resource agencies require environmental chemists.
