Founded in 1997 and chartered in 2006, Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) is a private Christian university affiliated with the Methodist Church of Kenya. Located in Meru Town, Meru County, KeMU serves over 12,000 students across campuses in Meru, Nairobi, and Mombasa.
The university operates eight schools including the KeMU Business School, Science and Technology, Medicine and Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Education, Theology, Law, and Agriculture. Its School of Medicine and Pharmacy is a significant healthcare training institution in the Mount Kenya region.

Research
Kemu conducts research in health sciences, theology, business, and education, with a focus on community based participatory research that responds to real societal needs. the school of medicine and pharmacy, the first private medical school in kenya, conducts research on infectious diseases, non communicable diseases, and community health in partnership with meru teaching and referral hospital, maua methodist hospital, stony brook university, and the university of michigan. the directorate of research, community outreach and industry linkages coordinates research across six thematic areas including health and nutrition, computing and informatics, agriculture and food security, and climate change. the school of computing and informatics researches digital health and ai applications for development, while the school of education advances pedagogical research. partnership with africa university (zimbabwe) and asbury theological seminary (usa) supports faculty exchange. kemu's research increasingly informs health policy and community development across meru county and the broader mount kenya region, translating christian service into evidence based community impact.
