Eastern Kenya Integrated University (EKIU)

The proposed Eastern Kenya Integrated University is a new Christian university sponsored by the Africa Brotherhood Church (ABC), with establishment commissioned by Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Timothy Ndambuki. The institution traces its roots to 1950 and is transitioning from Eastern Kenya Integrated College, which has operated as a teacher training college fully owned by the ABC.

The proposed university will operate three schools: Theology, Business, and Education, building on the ABC's decades of experience in educational and theological training. It is planned for Mitaboni in Machakos County.

Accredited by CUE, the institution is in its formative phase. The Africa Brotherhood Church, an African Initiated Church that spread from Nairobi to most parts of Kenya, brings a strong community development orientation to the proposed university, serving the educational and spiritual needs of the Akamba community and the broader Eastern Kenya region.

Research at eastern kenya integrated university is planned in theology, education, and community development, building on the africa brotherhood church's long history of community engagement and educational outreach. the school of theology will conduct research on african initiated christianity, akamba theological traditions, and the role of african brotherhood church in community transformation, producing scholarship that informs the abc's engagement with african culture and society. the school of education will advance research on teacher education quality, values based education in christian schools, and educational access in rural communities, building on the college's experience as a teacher training institution. the school of business will investigate ethical entrepreneurship, community enterprise, and faith based business models relevant to the eastern kenya economy. as a proposed institution in its formative phase, research capacity is being developed with mentorship from the commission for university education. the abc's community network across eastern kenya provides a foundation for community based research that addresses local educational, theological, and economic needs. research output will increasingly inform church policy, teacher education, and community development across the abc's areas of influence in eastern kenya.
