Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT) is one of Kenya's pioneer technical training institutes, established in 1971 through community fundraising. Located 10 kilometres north of Kisumu town off the Kisumu-Kakamega highway, the institute serves over 3,000 students from the Lake Victoria region and the broader East African Community.
The institute offers over 50 CBET courses across departments including Building and Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Business Studies, Computing and Informatics, Agriculture and Environmental Studies, Hospitality and Tourism, and Fashion Design and Cosmetology.
Accredited by TVETA and CDACC, the institution is the only technical institute in the country offering both Fisheries Technology and Aquaculture programmes, serving the fishing communities of Lake Victoria and the broader East African region.

Admission requirements
The institute requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) for Level 6 diploma programmes, D (Plain) for Level 5 certificates, and open entry for Level 4 courses. Competitive programmes include Medical Engineering Level 6, Aquaculture Level 6, and Civil Engineering Level 6. The institute accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students. A non-refundable application fee of KES 500 applies.
