Ol'lessos National Polytechnic (OLP)

Ol'lessos National Polytechnic is a public TVET institution in Nandi County, Kenya. Established in 1973, the polytechnic serves over 3,000 students across ten departments, including the rare Library and Information Studies programme.

The institution offers diploma and certificate courses in Agriculture and Extension, Automotive Engineering, Business Studies, Building and Civil Engineering, Computing and Informatics, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Health Science, Hospitality and Institutional Management, Library and Information Studies, and Research and Innovation. Facilities include a library, workshops, computer labs, sports facilities, laboratories, and hostels.

Accredited by TVETA and KNQA, the polytechnic is the only national polytechnic in Nandi County, uniquely offering Library and Information Studies, one of only two TVET institutions in Kenya with this programme.

Ol'lessos National Polytechnic operates a vibrant Directorate of Research, Development, Innovation and Partnerships (RDI) dedicated to applied engineering, TVET innovation, and regional economic empowerment. The Polytechnic participates actively in the annual Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) national research conferences and the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) innovation expos. Key research and innovation clusters include mechanical fabrication and automotive diagnostic engineering, electrical power installations and renewable solar solutions, civil building construction technologies, agricultural machinery adaptation, and digital ICT solutions tailored to Nandi County and national industrial demands. Through its industry incubation hub and technical trade workshops, the polytechnic transforms student and faculty prototypes into commercially viable tools for local enterprises and cooperative societies.
