About
Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas (MIOG) is a public TVET institution operated by the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC). Upgraded to national polytechnic status in September 2024, the institute operates three campuses in Nairobi, Naivasha, and Eldoret, all located within KPC premises.
The institute offers diploma and certificate courses in Welding and Fabrication, Mechanical Technology Production, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, Oil and Gas Economics, and Fire and Safety Technology. It also delivers internationally accredited short courses including NEBOSH and specialised welding through partnerships with SAIW, AWS, and IIW.
Accredited by TVETA and international bodies including NEBOSH and SAIW, the institution is the country's only specialised oil and gas training college, producing technicians for the emerging extractive and energy sectors.

Admission requirements
The institute requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) for Level 6 diploma programmes and D (Plain) for Level 4 certificates. Competitive programmes include Welding and Fabrication Level 6, Oil Pipeline Operations Level 6, and Analytical Chemistry Level 6. Internationally accredited short courses including NEBOSH and specialised welding are available for industry professionals. The institute accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students.
