Kitelakapel Technical Training Institute (KTTI)

Kitelakapel Technical Training Institute is a public TVET institution in West Pokot County, Kenya. Located in the pastoralist North Rift region, the institute serves over 800 students from West Pokot and neighbouring communities.

The institute offers diploma and certificate courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering, Business Studies, and Information Communication Technology. Facilities include engineering workshops, computer labs, and a library.

Accredited by TVETA and KNEC, the institute is the only technical training institute in West Pokot County, serving as a vital skills development centre for the region's pastoralist and emerging agricultural economy.

Kitelakapel Technical Training Institute conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and West Pokot County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.

The college requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) for diploma programmes, D (Plain) for certificates, and KCPE for artisan courses. The college accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students. Government capitation and HELB loans are available for eligible students.
