Kibwezi Technical and Vocational College (KTVTC)

Kibwezi Technical and Vocational College is a public TVET institution in Makueni County, Kenya. Located in Kibwezi West near Makindu town, opposite the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, the college was established in 2014 and opened its doors to the first intake in January 2018.

The college offers diploma and certificate courses in Automotive Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Communication Technology, Business Studies, Agribusiness, and Hospitality. Facilities include engineering workshops, computer labs, a library, and sports facilities.

Accredited by TVETA and KNEC, the institution serves as a key technical training centre for the county, supporting the region's economy with skilled graduates for local industries and enterprises.

Kibwezi Technical and Vocational College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Makueni County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.

The college requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) for diploma programmes, D (Plain) for certificates, and KCPE for artisan courses. Competitive programmes include Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering, and Diploma in ICT. The college accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students. Government capitation and HELB loans are available for eligible students.
