Kenya School of Law (KSL)

The Kenya School of Law is a public legal education provider established under the Kenya School of Law Act, No. 26 of 2012, located in Karen and Nairobi CBD, Kenya. The institution is mandated to provide professional legal training and is regulated by the Council of Legal Education.

The school offers the Advocates Training Programme (ATP), a postgraduate diploma in law, and the Paralegal Training Programme (PTP), a Diploma in Law conducted at its Town Campus in Development House on Moi Avenue. Facilities include a dedicated law library at Karen and a specialised paralegal library at the Town Campus.

As the only public institution mandated to offer professional legal training, the school plays a unique role in the legal education ecosystem, preparing advocates and paralegals for the profession.

The Kenya School of Law conducts research in clinical legal education, statutory interpretation, trial advocacy methodology, and professional legal ethics. In alignment with the Council of Legal Education (CLE) and the Judiciary of Kenya, KSL faculty and post-graduate advocates investigate public interest litigation, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), constitutional devolution jurisprudence, and access to justice for vulnerable communities.

The Kenya School of Law requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C (Plain) with at least C+ (Plus) in English or Kiswahili for the Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies). The ATP programme requires a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Admission is competitive and administered through KUCCPS for government-sponsored students. Alternative entry is available via KACE, a certificate in law, or experiential learning certification from the Council of Legal Education.
