Research and innovation

Kenya Medical Training College - Ugenya Campus conducts rigorous community health diagnostics, clinical nursing practice evaluations, and primary health care (PHC) research in collaboration with Siaya County Referral Hospital and the Ministry of Health. Faculty and clinical students execute annual Community Health Diagnosis (CHD) fieldwork, investigating maternal and child health outcomes, communicable disease epidemiology (such as malaria and tuberculosis surveillance), water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) standards, and non-communicable lifestyle disease screening in host communities. Applied research findings directly support county health policy planning, evidence-based clinical protocols, and preventive community outreach programmes under the regulatory standards of KMPDC and the Nursing Council of Kenya.
