Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI)

Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) is a government training institution under the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, located in Nakuru Town, Kenya. Established to offer hands-on industrial and entrepreneurship skills training, the institute serves school leavers and industry workers seeking to upgrade their technical competencies.

The institute offers courses examined by KNEC and NITA in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Automotive Engineering, Food and Beverage, Garment Making, and Business Studies. Programmes range from three months to three years in duration.

Accredited by TVETA, NITA, and KNEC, the institution is the country's premier government industrial training college, bridging the skills gap between formal education and industry requirements for the manufacturing and trade sectors.

KITI spearheads applied industrial engineering research, mechanical prototype fabrication, and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) incubation. The institute develops affordable agro-processing machines, solar dryers, leather tanning and footwear prototypes, and CNC machining techniques designed to upgrade local informal sector manufacturing under the Kenya Vision 2030 industrialization pillar.

The institute requires a minimum KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) for diploma programmes and D (Plain) for certificate courses. Competitive programmes include Mechanical Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, and Automotive Engineering. The institute accepts KUCCPS-placed and self-sponsored students. A non-refundable application fee of KES 1,000 applies. Skills upgrading programmes are available for industry workers.
