Kakrao Technical and Vocational College (KTV)

Kakrao Technical and Vocational College, located in Kisumu County, was established in 2015 to address the growing demand for skilled technical professionals in the Lake Victoria region in Kenya. The college offers a range of diploma and certificate programs in engineering, business, and ICT, with a strong focus on hands-on training and community engagement.

Its mission is to empower youth with market-relevant skills for employment and self-reliance, contributing to Kenya's Vision 2030 and the Big Four Agenda. In 2026, the institution continues to expand its workshops and digital learning resources to meet evolving industry needs.

Kakrao Technical and Vocational College conducts applied technical research and skills innovation aligned with the TVET CDACC Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework and Migori County development priorities. The institution hosts annual technical trade exhibitions and participates in regional KATTI research fairs, showcasing student and faculty innovations in renewable energy (solar and biogas installations), metal fabrication, agricultural mechanization, electrical building services, and ICT business solutions. Applied research projects collaborate with local informal sector artisans (Jua Kali), county vocational directorates, and community micro-enterprises to deliver practical engineering prototypes and community-level economic solutions.
