About
Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) was established in 2009 by the Government of Kenya through the Kenya Ports Authority to train maritime professionals. Located in Mombasa County, Kenya, BMA serves over 1,500 students and is the country's premier maritime training institution.
The academy offers courses in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Port Operations, Logistics and Shipping, and Maritime Safety, with training facilities including simulators and a maritime training pool. Programmes are aligned with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.
Accredited by TVETA and the Kenya Maritime Authority, BMA is Kenya's only specialised maritime training academy, producing seafarers and port operations professionals for the country's blue economy and the broader Western Indian Ocean region.
