Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainable Energy

The Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainable Energy is a doctoral programme offered at JKUAT through the Department of Energy and Environmental Engineering and at Kenyatta University through the Department of Energy, Gas and Petroleum Engineering. It is designed to produce scholars capable of advancing research in sustainable energy, renewable energy and energy policy. The programme supports Kenya's Vision 2030 energy and renewable energy development goals.

Teaching is delivered through coursework, laboratory sessions and supervised research. At JKUAT, the Department of Energy and Environmental Engineering offers PhD in Sustainable Energy Engineering. The JKUAT SEED Center, funded by DAAD and BMZ, offers doctoral scholarships in sustainable energy. Application fee KSh 3,500.

At KU, the Department of Energy, Gas and Petroleum Engineering offers PhD in Renewable Energy Technology. KSh 459,000/year for East Africans. Application fee KSh 3,000.

Graduates pursue careers as university professors, sustainable energy researchers, renewable energy consultants, energy policy analysts and energy engineers.
