Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics

The Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics is a doctoral programme offered at the University of Nairobi through the Department of Linguistics and Languages and at Kenyatta University through the School of Education and Lifelong Learning.

The programme supports Kenya's language development and documentation goals.

Teaching is delivered through coursework and supervised research. At UoN, the Department of Linguistics and Languages offers PhD in Linguistics and Languages (C811) with tuition at KSh 192,000/year, Year 1 total KSh 224,000, Year 2 KSh 219,000, Year 3 KSh 269,000, total KSh 712,000 over 3 years. At KU, PhD in English and Linguistics and PhD in Applied Linguistics are offered at KSh 244,800/year for East Africans.
